1. Product Name(s)

Mallards Coffee Company sells the following types of products:

  • Whole-bean roasted coffee

  • Ground roasted coffee (various grind sizes)

  • Seasonal and limited blends

  • Single-origin coffees

  • Decaf coffee

  • Subscription coffee orders

All products are freshly roasted by the roasting partner according to their regular roasting schedule to maintain optimum flavour.


2. Product Description

Freshly roasted coffee (whole bean or ground) made from 100% coffee beans.

The product is:

  • Heat-treated during roasting

  • Low-moisture but perishable

  • Shelf life depends on roasting date (6–12 months suggested BBE)

  • Free from additives, flavourings, sugars, or allergens

  • Packaged in sealed, one-way valve coffee bags

  • Supplied with a roast date, best-before date, and batch code

  • Shipped directly from roaster to customer


3. Intended Use

  • Intended for domestic use as a beverage

  • Brewed by the consumer (filter, espresso, cafetière, etc)

  • Product must be stored upright, in a cool, dry place

  • Not intended for high-risk populations (decaf available)


4. Target Consumer

  • General population aged 16+

  • Home coffee drinkers

  • Coffee enthusiasts

  • UK consumers only (delivery restricted to UK)

  • Not targeted at children


5. Ingredients

  • 100% roasted coffee beans

  • No allergens are intentionally used or added

  • Allergen risk is extremely low due to roasting and clean processing (see Allergen Section)


6. Allergen Status

  • Coffee beans do not contain allergens under the UK 14 major allergens list

  • Roasting partner does not handle nuts, dairy, or major allergens on the same line for Mallards coffee

  • External allergen contamination risk is extremely low

  • Roasting temperatures neutralise most environmental contaminants

  • Bags are sealed immediately after grinding (if applicable) and cooling

Customer-facing statement:
“Roasted coffee contains no major allergens. Produced in an environment with strict allergen controls.”


7. Processing Method (Handled by Roasting Partner)

  • Green bean intake: Checked for quality and stored appropriately

  • Roasting: High-temperature roasting conducted regularly to maintain freshness

  • Cooling: Coffee cooled to safe packaging temperature

  • Grinding (if ordered): Ground to customer-selected grind size

  • Bagging: Packed into food-grade kraft bags with a one-way valve

  • Labelling:

    • Brand name (Mallards Coffee Company)

    • Blend name / product name

    • Weight

    • Grind style (whole bean / specific grind)

    • Coffee type (roasted coffee beans / ground coffee)

    • Sticker on back with:

      • Roast date

      • Best-before date

      • Batch code

      • Storage instructions

  • Dispatch: Sent directly to customer via tracked courier

Mallards Coffee Company does not handle or physically store coffee.


8. Packaging

Food-grade kraft coffee bags with:

  • One-way degassing valve

  • Resealable top

  • Heat-sealed edge

  • Printed front label with brand, blend, weight, grind, and coffee type

  • Rear information sticker with roast date, BBE, batch code, storage instructions

Weights:

  • Standard size: 250g

  • Other sizes available depending on the product


9. Shelf Life

  • Suggested Best Before: 6–12 months from roast date depending on product

  • Determined by roasting partner based on stability testing

  • Bags protect aroma and freshness

  • Product remains safe beyond BBE but may lose quality


10. Storage Conditions

Before opening:

  • Upright

  • Cool, dry place

  • Away from direct sunlight

After opening:

  • Reseal between uses

  • Use within 4–6 weeks for optimal flavour

  • Customer can write the “date opened” on the back label


11. Distribution & Delivery

Mallards operates solely as an online retailer.

Deliveries are handled by:

  • Royal Mail

  • DPD

  • Other trusted UK couriers (depending on availability)

Processing & Fulfilment:

  • Coffee roasted regularly by roasting partner to maintain freshness

  • Packed and dispatched directly to customers

  • Delivery typically 1–3 working days

  • Mallards does not store, handle, or transport coffee


12. Traceability System

  • Every product carries a unique batch code supplied by the roaster

  • Order number + batch code = complete link to the customer

  • In the event of an issue, customer provides order number and batch code

  • Mallards retrieves production documentation from the roasting partner

  • Records stored securely for minimum 12 months after BBE


13. Allergen Control

  • Roaster operates a controlled environment with no handling of major allergens during coffee processing

  • Equipment cleaned as per roaster’s HACCP

  • Allergen risk is classified as very low

  • Coffee naturally contains no allergens


14. Microbiological & Chemical Safety

  • Coffee is low moisture and roasted at high temperatures, minimising microbial survival, mould, pathogens, and mycotoxins

  • Roaster is responsible for supplier approval, roasting controls, and HACCP compliance


15. Labelling Requirements & Compliance

All labels include:

  • Brand name

  • Blend / product name

  • Weight

  • Grind style

  • Coffee type

  • Roast date

  • Best-before date

  • Batch code

  • Storage guidance

  • Sticker with “date opened” for customer tracking

Complies with UK Food Labelling Regulations and FIC.
